What is Seromycin (cycloserine)?

Seromycin is an antibiotic. It prevents tuberculous bacteria from growing in your body. Seromycin is used to treat tuberculosis (TB). Seromycin is also sometimes used to treat urinary tract and other types of infections that have not responded to other treatments.

Seromycin may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities.

Call your doctor immediately if you experience a skin rash, mental confusion, dizziness, headache, or tremors (shaking).

Who should not take Seromycin (cycloserine)?

How should I take Seromycin (cycloserine)?

Take each dose with a full glass (8 ounces) of water.

Seromycin is usually taken twice a day. Follow your doctor´s instructions. Take all of the Seromycin that has been prescribed for you even if you begin to feel better. Your symptoms may begin to improve before the infection is completely treated. Seromycin is usually combined with one or more other tuberculosis medicines.

Your doctor may also want you to take a supplemental vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) tablet daily during treatment to lessen side effects.
Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one as directed. Do not take a double dose of this medication.
